Excel Solver is pretty capable
In the early 2000s, I was working with a mathematical programming software package called GAMS. During that period, the Solver in Microsoft Excel was not as advanced as it is today. Presently, Microsoft Excel’s Solver has significantly improved, enabling the solution of intricate optimization problems. Not a bad option, as Excel is widely available.
For solving optimisation problems, there is an abundance of alternative software options as well, which I may share details about later.
